"The only person you need to be better than - is the 'you' that you were yesterday".
I’ve been feeling more ‘lost’ in this past year than I ever have before in my life. Moreover, I have learned more in the past four years about myself and my world.
These are the “confusing years” as I like to call them. When feeling lost, we might feel overwhelmed, not good enough or frustrated with our progress in life.
This is the point in life where I found that we are left to our own vices. Throughout childhood and adolescence we are constantly being told what to do.
Which is good. We need that guidance. But, once we hit the point of 20+, we are suddenly expected to know what to do.
The truth is – no one truly knows. No one has the right way to do things.
There is no rule book to life.
Many people go on different paths searching for happiness, purpose, or success.
Some people make the decision to stay at home, or to continue their education. Maybe they jump straight into the workforce, or they travel, or spend time with loved ones.
There are many different paths one can choose to grow and these can come in different ways – at different points in time.
I like to describe this time in our lives as “shedding skin”.
At this point in time, it can get uncomfortable. It could be stressful, and problems may arise.
But This. Is. Growth.
We are constantly changing. If we are not growing – what are we doing? It’s truly amazing how much we reconstruct who we are.
You are completely different from the person that you were 10 years ago. 5 years ago. 2 months ago.
Who are you - today?
There is positive energy in knowing that you have the power to decide who that person is.
That being said, it’s important to take notice and thank ourselves for accepting that change. Look at this “messy time” as the beauty that it is. It’s beautiful the ways that we can transform, and grow.
Fall in love with the journey – the messy – the unforgiving.
Right now is not the time to have it ‘all figured out’.
In my personal opinion, why would you want to? There is such fun in finding out how to build the life that you want. It’s all about feeling lost but eventually finding your way out of it.
Making mistakes and going back to the drawing board and figuring out the journey – why would you want to miss that?
Take this time to fall in love with your life.

To add, take this time to fall in love with yourself.
This time is all about gaining and losing. Finding out what works for you, and what doesn’t.
It’s about progression and moving forward.
A big part of growing is the people that you surround yourself with.
Learning about who speaks to your soul. You have to meet people and find out what purpose they have in your life.
I’ll be real when I say that different friends serve different purposes. This is the time for you to figure out what those purposes are.
Connect with people. Fill in your circle with people who encourage the growth in you. Have those deep chats and listen to those that fill you with knowledge and positivity and light.
These people are out there and they are worth holding on to you. In reality, odds are, they are feeling lost too. You can help each other seek new and exciting ways to grow.
And guess what? You can start by being that person and as a result, others will be attracted to you.
You have the power to surround yourself with the energy and positivity that you want to see in your life.
Growth and Progression is about taking care of yourself and listening to what your needs and wants are. It’s about self-love and caring for your mental health.
Final Note
Are you feeling lost right now? Good You’re stressed? Good. You don’t know what to do next or how to get to the next chapter of your life? Good. These experiences strengthen you.
High and lows are life. They remind you that you’re alive.
If you never felt any low, how would you know how good highs feel?
You have to go through it because this – this time is crucial.
This time will teach you so much.
Listen. Learn. Grow.
Keep Pushing and growing.

you’re very right!! They make SO much difference to the way we live our lives! Best to surround ourselves with positivity and light rather than people who are “crabs” and want to pull us down.
This article is 100% full of truth. The lost, back to the drawing board feeling is uncomfortable, but that’s where the growth happens. I love looking back and seeing where these difficult seasons have led me.

When you said “If we are not growing – what are we doing?,” I was honestly taken aback. With everything that’s happening, it’s so easy to feel lost and end up unmotivated. That sentence really knocked some sense into me and it made me realize that setbacks are okay as long as we keep going 🙂 Thanks for this, Pam!
Cristina – I absolutely love this comment. Thank you so much for connecting with my words. I cannot tell you how meaningful that is to me. You are SO right ! As long as we keep going and learning!

This is a great article. It’s very easy to get lost in life when things don’t align. However, the way it’s not aligned is the way it is. It’s very important to understand and keep going to make things better.

This is so well-written! It’s like you read my mind and wrote out every concern that flies through my head. I absolutely love the idea of falling in love with life, even the messy bits. I have a tendency to be my own worst critic, so it’s nice to get positive reminders like this. Great post! 🙂
