People around the globe are being asked to stay at home, out of the public to try and stop the spread of the virus. I know there are people out there that thrive on being out and about, around people and have a hard time being stuck inside. Some of you would’ve used this time off to be around friends and family, went to the movies, maybe the mall and many other activities. So I can see why being stuck inside for this long period of time could get uncomfortable.
I am an introvert myself so I do find comfort in being by myself since being around others for extreme amount of time usually depletes my energy rather quickly. SO, I have lots of experience with finding things to do in my house when going out is not an option. Here are some ideas for things you can do to help pass the time on your days inside.
Start that project
Tackle that blog, or finish that book you’ve been dying to write. If you’ve ever wanted to podcast, write, manage your instagram – WHATEVER wish you have for yourself- I suggest that you take this time to get at it and get it done. For right now, we have this opportunity to fill up this time with anything we want to. So why not be productive?
Exercise at home

I don’t know if you’re anything like me – but I would rather work out in my own home anyways versus going to the gym around other people. Here, there is nothing holding you back from wearing your sweats, and getting those moves in, in the morning. Stretch out! Search it up on youtube for FREE. There are loads of workout videos online that can get you up and get your heart pounding.
Practice self care
Take this moment to just treat yourself right. You’ve been in need of this. Trust me, we all have. Wrap your hair in that deep conditioning hair mask. Put that face mask on and watch your favourite movie. Paint your own nails and write in your journal. It will feel just so so nice to just…breathe for a moment.
Go for a walk
We are being told to distance ourselves from all SOCIAL gatherings. This is your chance to get outside and enjoy the natural sunlight on your skin, breathe in that brisk air and honestly, it’s just nice to get out of the house.
Call your friends and/or family

Reach out to the ones you love and care about. They are all going through their own versions of what’s happening and it would be nice to reach out to them and check in with how it’s going. Also, if you are an extrovert and recharge by social interaction – this could really benefit you by making you feel closer. Isolation can be lonely, so reach out and stay in contact because they could be feeling lonely too.
Learn a new skill
This is the time to dust off that ukulele that’s collecting dust in the corner, or to finally get to learning that language. Do a little bit every day – by the end of this isolation you might have picked up a new cool skill!
Learn a new recipe
If you have the food and means to do so, maybe cook something new for your loved one or family. It’s always nice to spice it up and this time you can take your time and really put some love into it.
Find new people on social media
If you like instagram/twitter/TikTok/Pinterest/Podcasts – what ever you love, there is someone new waiting to share their content with you. Explore different interests of yours in these media platforms and find new people to follow. It’s always fun networking and adding people to your life.
Update your music library
Grab your headphones, grab a nice spot in your house and go exploring. Nothing feels as good as finding a new artist that really speaks to you. Miss the days that you’d have so much time on hand to just explore through youtube and end up so far in that you discover such a new territory.
Deep clean your house
Trust me. It’ll feel so so nice to finally clean out your closet, or your night table. Get to the places you don’t typically get to. Blast some music and really try, I promise it will be hard to stop once you start. Honestly, while you’re at it maybe clean out your car too.
Remember - Relax

There is nothing wrong with just taking a beat. This has been a very overwhelming past few weeks and just taking it easy and turning your brain off for a moment can be just what your mind needs.
